Αθήνα, 1966 

Η πλατεία Ηρώων, η οδός Ήβης, η οδός Νυμφών, τόποι και δρόμοι σαν όλους τους τόπους και δρόμους της Αθήνας, μικροί, ασήμαντοι, λυπημένοι, τυραννικοί, μα κι απέραντα τρυφεροί. Ζωές γλυκές και ζωές φαρμακωμένες, αξιοπρεπείς και μικρόψυχες, τραχιές και τρυφερές. Άλλες εύκολες, άλλες δύσκολες, άλλες ακύμαντες κι άλλες φουρτουνιασμένες. Ζωές ασπρόμαυρες, γρατζουνισμένες, φθαρμένες, μα και ζωές ανυπόφερτα νοσταλγικές.
