Ο “Προφήτης” εκδόθηκε το 1923 και θεωρείται δικαίως το αριστούργηµα του Γκιµπράν. Με επιρροές από τον χριστιανισµό, τον σουφισµό, τον ινδουισµό και τη θεοσοφία, επικεντρώνεται στη σηµασία της πνευµατικής αγάπης που µπορεί να συνδέσει τους ανθρώπους, ενώ είναι παράλληλα ένα από τα πιο ευπώλητα ποιητικά βιβλία όλων των εποχών.
