Oi Ouf kai oi Fou / Οι ουφ και οι φου

Once upon a time, a long long time ago, there were two lands that no longer exist today: The land of the Ouf and the land of the Fou. However much you try I’m afraid you won’t find them on any map or any history book. In the land of the Ouf, it was always hot because winter could not reached it. It was summer all year around and the heat was unbearable. In the land of the Fou, on the other hand, it was always cold. There was never any summer and all there was were twelve months of freezing cold winter. Both lands were completely different. They only had one thing in common: no plant could grow in their earth, no animals could live there, and their people would surely die of hunger it there wasn’t the Island, a small paradise between them, from which they could take anything and everything they needed. All was well until the day… that the king of the Ouf had a brilliant idea! He would declare war on the Fou…

Πριν από χρόνια, ήταν δυο χώρες που σήμερα δεν υπάρχουν πια: η Χώρα των Ουφ κι η Χώρα των Φου. Σε κανέναν χάρτη, σε κανένα βιβλίο Ιστορίας δε θα τις βρείτε.
Στη Χώρα των Ουφ έκανε συνέχεια ζέστη, γιατί εκεί ο χειμώνας δεν έφτανε ποτέ. Όλο τον χρόνο καλοκαίρι κι η κάψα ανυπόφορη.
Τη Χώρα των Φου, πάλι, τη θέριζε ασταμάτητα το κρύο. Το καλοκαίρι ανύπαρκτο! Δώδεκα μήνες χειμώνας κι η παγωνιά μεγάλη. 
Ήταν δυο χώρες τελείως διαφορετικές.
Μονάχα σ’ ένα έμοιαζαν: τίποτα δε φύτρωνε στη γη τους, ζωντανά δεν υπήρχαν πουθενά κι οι κάτοικοί τους σίγουρα θα πέθαιναν από την πείνα, αν δεν υπήρχε ανάμεσά τους το Νησί, ένας μικρός παράδεισος, απ’ όπου έπαιρναν ό,τι αγαπούσαν. Κι όλα καλά, ως τη στιγμή που ο βασιλιάς των Ουφ είχε μια φαεινή ιδέα: να κάνει πόλεμο στους Φου!
