GREEK LANGUAGE BOOK
The novel begins with its focus upon Orestis and Philippos, two eight-year-old identical twins living in Athens, who from the prologue have gotten their first taste of death: their grandfather died four years ago, and the children are told he has gone on a trip to Paris, then that he has turned to clouds, to dust, to sand, until they are grown to finally realize he is dead. Now, spending the weekend with their beloved grandmother as usual, they ask her for a bedtime story about her life as a child during the summer before the German Occupation of Greece in WWII.
